Focus of B.E.S.T. Karate
1. Develop motor skills.
Every activity students are having fun with martial art activities and they are also developing the fine and gross motor skills that are appropriate for their age. Karate training has many approved benefits and claims to being one of the best sports for overall development and can be applied to many sports and this is the reason this program is part of the B.E.S.T. programming.
- Coordination between right and left side
- Flexibility
- Focus
- Control
- Speed
- Timing
2. Social skills.
Although B.E.S.T. Karate does not lend itself to lengthy conversations during class, partner activities, proper Student respect as well as Instructor respect. This all encourages and enhances ones social skills with each other. Students will be taught how to show respect for their dojang, junior & senior classmates and instructors by bowing and using “yes sir”, “yes ma’am” as a sign of respect.
3. Child safety
We feel it is important for children to understand how to recognize “Stranger-danger”, how to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency and the correct way to address new situations. With parental involvement and trustful teachers all these concepts will be introduced and practiced and presented in a fun safe environment. These are the basics to self defense – prior to using the body. Using your head needs to be first.
4. Self-discipline and self-confidence
Self discipline involves the control of emotions and behavior in class and at the dojang by making the goals and activities challenging but attainable. The student builds confidence and establishes self confidence. This allows the children and parents to begin to set higher goals for themselves, not just in martial arts, but for all aspects of their lives.
5. Learning
Why would this be last? Some think that this should be first. B.E.S.T. Karate is mental and physical training. Learning takes many forms and B.E.S.T. Karate will introduce martial arts skills and forms but will also prepare them for the world. All the above reasons will allow your children to take martial arts learning into all aspects of their lives.
